Richard Lobban, Jr. (Ph.D., Northwestern) is Professor Emeritus of Anthropology and African Studies at Rhode Island College, where he taught since 1972. He is also the Executive Director of the Sudan Studies Association.

The AIA Societies Breakfast held on January 7 gave representatives of our Local Societies the opportunity to discuss mutual goals and to share ideas for AIA participation on the local level.
Congratulations to Seymour Bandes of the Long Island Society and Alison Futrell of the Society of Tucson and Southern Arizona, the recipients of this year's AIA Foot Soldier Award.
The AIA is pleased to announce that 2012 set a new attendance record for its Annual Meeting, with 3,200 registrants!
The Stafford Civil War Sites in Virginia held its grand opening in April 2013.
On May 9, the AIA held a summit meeting to discuss new directions for the AIA and archaeology in K-12 Education.
The Site Preservation Program is funding the San Bartolo Mural Project thanks to a special gala pledge drive.
