2014 Hallam L. Movius, Jr. Lecture and Reception. Free and open to the public.

Archaeologist and scholar Margaret Conkey has devoted over forty years to researching the caves and landscapes of southwestern Europe, with a focus on the cave art of the French Pyrenees. Since 2006 her international team has been excavating the region’s first intact open-air site and has found artifacts dating back to the Paleolithic era 17,000 years ago. Professor Conkey has also led the movement toward understanding cave art and other archaeological materials through the lens of gender and feminism.

Reception follows in the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology galleries (11 Divinity Avenue)
