Committees & Interest Groups

2024 Committee Assignments

Committees meet throughout the year to discuss the policies of the Institute and current issues in the field of archaeology. Committee terms begin on January 1 of the start year listed and expire on December 31 of the end year listed, unless otherwise noted.

Committee members must maintain an active AIA membership. To join the AIA as a member, click here. To renew your AIA membership, log into the AIA website and follow the instructions from the ‘My Account’ tab (selected from the top of the screen).

Questions regarding Committees should be directed to the Committee’s Staff Liaison.

Interest Groups

Interest groups bring together AIA members with shared interests in specific topics, usually regional or scholarly areas of study. These groups operate more autonomously than AIA Committees by allowing members to self-identify instead of being appointed by the AIA President. More information and guidelines…
