The Institute of Archaeology of the University of Cologne invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor (W2) to be effective April 1st 2015. The institute seeks an outstandig scholar for the archaeology of the Roman Provinces with a  sub-specialization in the Northwestern Roman Provinces (Germany, Benelux, France, Britain).

Demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research is expected. Applicants should be internationally recognized for leadership and scholarship in their discipline. Duties will be to provide intellectual and administrative leadership for the Institute of Archaeology and its activities. We are seeking an active scholar with demonstrated excellence in interdisciplinary collaboration. Willingness for cooperation with regional research facilities and museums is mandatory.

The position is open to candidates with Ph.D and habilitation or equivalent achievement (e.g. second book) in Archaeology of the Roman Provinces.
