The Department of Anthropology at the University of West Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Anthropology to start August 2012, position #119750.
We seek an anthropological archaeologist, with a specialty in Maritime Cultural Resources and Coastal Landscapes, demonstrated teaching abilities, and an active research agenda. Regular teaching of a local summer archaeological field school is required. The successful candidate will complement our existing programs in historic and public archaeology; teach introductory, upper division, and graduate anthropology and archaeology courses. Experience with survey, excavation, project administration, and a record of scholarship is desirable. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; serving on graduate committees, directing Master's theses, conducting and publishing research, and participating in department, university, professional, and community service activities.
Salary: $50,000 - $61,000. Position requires a PhD in Anthropology and dive certification from a nationally recognized agency.
