Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the daily field operations & train field assistants in excavating procedures, survey, mapping, data collection and recording as well as perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Position Type: Contract (two years)
Pay Range: $36,000-42,000/annum
Reports to: Principal Investigator
Job Grade/Status: Exempt
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
MA in Archaeology with 2-years supervisory experience in Pacific Islands/Polynesian Region(s), and demonstrable understanding and compliance expertise with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Or substitution with the following: Bachelor of Arts from an accredited program in archaeology or a degree program which is closely related to archaeology.
Experience:
5-years supervisory experience (field and lab) in Pacific archaeology,and2-years experience working in a direct compliance-related capacity with Section 106 of the National.
Skills, Abilities, Job Requirements:
Skilled in: Must have a high degree of organization skills.
Ability to:
Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with local crew, landowners and the Samoan community; willing to adapt to a new cultural setting. Be able to write and converse effectively in the English language.
Requirements:
Be able to perform strenuous physical outdoor activity in a rugged tropical environment and be able to excavate in a humid climate, and at times clear heavy bush areas. A police criminal check and a drug test review will be required.
