Abstract: Environmental Deterioration at Stobi: Climate Change or Human Agency?

This lecture is concerned with evidence for the demise of Stobi, capital of the Roman provinces of Macedonia Salutaris and later Macedonia Secunda, during Late Antiquity. The issue is whether the cause was climate change or human activities, including farming, neglect of terrace walls, and political or social factors.
