Los Angeles Magazine likes ARCHAEOLOGY

This September, the city of Los Angeles will turn 232 years old. To mark the occasion, Los Angeles Magazine featured an artifact-rich photo essay drawn from an exhibit at the city's Natural History Museum. In her Editor's Buzz section, the magazine's editor-in-chief, Mary Melton wrote, "Among the many periodicals that land in my mailbox, Archaeology magazine may offer the most inspiration. Sometime in my life I will don a multipocketed vest and a pith helmet to search for a lost city under the Tunisian sun…." Read the rest of her letter here and view the impressive photo essay, The Birth of a City. The online version, updating daily with many items selected by readers, can be viewed at The History of Los Angeles as Told Through 232 Objects.
