Central Mississippi/Jackson Society Holds Film Premier

On February 9, the Central MS/Jackson local society helped organize and promote the world premier, at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, of the National Geographic film “Quest for the Lost Maya”, which features Millsaps College archaeology professor and local society member George Bey and his students digging at the Maya site of Kiuic in Yucatan, Mexico. Twenty members of the local society attended the premier, which drew an overall audience of 400 viewers. Bey and two of his students were joined by the film’s director, Jeremy Zipple, for a panel discussion. The film will air for a national audience on March 28th at 9 PM CST on PBS.
The Stafford Civil War Sites in Virginia held its grand opening in April 2013.
On May 9, the AIA held a summit meeting to discuss new directions for the AIA and archaeology in K-12 Education.
The Site Preservation Program is funding the San Bartolo Mural Project thanks to a special gala pledge drive.
