Three More International Organizations join International Archaeology Day 2013!

The Archaeological Society of South Africa Trans-Vaal Branch, The University of Kushan Archeological Society and the Petra National Trust have joined International Archaeology Day 2013. These new groups will hold events in October. On the 19th, the Archaeological Society of South Africa will host a symposium on the Archaeology of the Global South. The event is open to both professionals in the field and amateurs alike and will include a full day of lectures and discussions. The Petra National Trust in Jordan will also host an event on the 19th in collaboration with an archaeological mission. The two organizations will bring local residents from the surrounding area to an open dig as part of their Youth Engagement Program. Finally, from the 12th to the 19th of October, the University of Kushan in Iran will host a weeklong archaeological photography exhibition taken on student trips. University of Alaska Anchorage hosted International Archaeology Day on October 19th.
The Northeast Region of the Florida Public Archaeology Network hosted an Archaeology Bar Crawl through downtown St. Augustine in honor of International Archaeology Day.
The Commission to Preserve National Monuments celebrated the International Archaeology Day with a series of events titled "Cultural Memory, a Vanishing Treasure: Archaeological Heritage of BiH."
