The Office of Archaeological Studies in collaboration with the Santa Fe Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America and other organizations in northern New Mexico will celebrate National Archaeology Day by hosting an open house at the newly opened Center for New Mexico Archaeology. Visitor’s will have the opportunity to tour the new building which is the primary storage facility for New Mexico’s archaeological collections as well as the offices and working research laboratories of the Office of Archaeological Studies. Visitors of all ages can learn about New Mexico’s unique 14,000 year cultural heritage through a wide range of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and interactions with archaeologists. Come throw that atlatl, shoot that bow, make yucca fiber, learn about rock art, and query archaeologists with all those questions you have always wanted to ask about New Mexico archaeology.
