Family talk by Carolyn Willekes.

Do you remember the first time you saw—or rode—a horse? Horses made people stronger and freer than they’d ever been. First, we’ll learn about how horses and people work together in the world of the desert Bedouins and you’ll see a display of weapons and objects from Bedouin tents.  Then you’ll gallop off on your own adventure through the museum to explore horses in art.

Free admission, however tickets are required and are available online, by phone at 713-639-7771 or at any MFAH admission desk.

Were the ancients as addicted to chocolate as we are today? New research shows that chocolate was domesticated in Central America before the rise of the Olmec civilization, over 3500 years ago. The importance of this universally loved elixir grew, and a chocolate drink laced with chili peppers became a Mesoamerican symbol of hospitality and royalty. Melt with excitement as you discover the ancient origins of chocolate.
