Lecturer in Art History and Aesthetics at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda
Archaeological Institute of America lecturer and host Rita Sodha is an Indian art expert who specializes in prehistoric, tribal, folk, and popular art, as well as Indian painting. Rita has led several study tours throughout India since 2008, and looks forward to sharing with our group insights on Indian art and architecture, history, music, literature, and Indian culture. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Art History from the Department of Art History and Aesthetics at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She also earned a B.A. in Painting and a Diploma in Sitar from the same university. Rita has been teaching in the Department of Art History and Aesthetics at Baroda for over a decade, and has been guest faculty to students of Architecture, Music, and Design. Having published in the areas of medieval art and practices, she frequently contributes reviews, artist profiles, and essays to print magazines and e-magazines on art in India.
