The AIA-Riverside Society’s 6th annual Archaeology Expo was held on International Archaeology Day at the Hidden Valley Nature Center, in Riverside, California. Sixteen exhibiters representing academic, CRM, and government archaeology presented a wide range of archaeological technologies to nearly 300 visitors.
Participants threw spears using atlatls, identified artifacts, put on VR headsets to walk through Maya sites, discovered ancient Egyptian amethyst mines, and much more. The AIA table was the location for kids to turn their stamped “passports.” They also gave out California Archaeology Month posters and back issues of ARCHAEOLOGY magazine.
