Project Description:

This is an intensive 2 day lab topic that provides participants with a detailed introduction to paleopathology. You will learn how to identify specific paleopathological diseases and skeletal traumas using skeletal remains. Each disease will include an overview of basic pathology explaining how and why it is visible on skeletal materials. Participants will learn the key principles of differential diagnosis of diseases and the key differences between anatomical variations and skeletal abnormalities. In addition, you will be able to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired to real skeletal materials in the workshops.
