Project Description:
For summer 2019, the NMSU Archaeological Field School will be held at South Diamond Creek Pueblo (SDCP), located in Gila National Forest/Wilderness from May 22nd-June 28th(6 weeks). While working at the site, students will stay at Beaverhead Workstation and commute from the workstation to SDCP every day. They will also take a camping trip to Chaco Canyon. Students will gain experience in excavation, mapping, and laboratory analysis. The cost is 6 credits of tuition plus an $1,200 course fee. Applications are due March 22, 2019. We are attempting to excavate a great kiva in the northern Mimbres region, New Mexico.
Project Size: 1-24 participants
Minimum Length of Stay for Volunteers: 5-6 Weeks
Room and Board Arrangements:
Students will put his/her own tent surrounding the headquarter (a house). The house includes two showers and toilets, kitchen, and a large gathering room. Cost: A course fee $1200 provides for transportation, food, gas, lodging etc.
Academic Credit:
6 credits credits offered by New Mexico State University. Tuition is 6 credits - $1671.6 (undergraduate) and $1809 (graduate) based on the tuition on Spring 2019 .
