Earthwatch funds field-based scientific research that is rigorous, relevant, and impactful. Earthwatch-funded projects conduct research around the globe. All research must incorporate citizen-scientist participation in data collection. Citizen-scientist participants are recruited by Earthwatch. Requests for pre-proposals are distributed annually. Pre-proposals must be submitted by the PI. All PIs must have a PhD and an affiliation with a university, government agency, or science-focused NGO.
