On October 5, 2012, the Pre-Columbian Society of Washington, DC held its monthly meeting and lecture, and National Archaeology event, at the Sumner School in downtown Washington, DC. Dr. Greg Lockard presented the results of the three-year (2000-2003) Galindo Archaeological Project (GAP). Galindo is a large urban settlement located in the Moche Valley on the north coast of Peru. The site is located at the valley neck, approximately 20 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. The height of Galindo’s power was during the principal Moche V occupation of the site (A.D. 700-800).
