Margaret Murphy’s lecture, titled “Linguistic Preservation: Perspectives and Interpretation,” in honor of National Archaeology Day was successful! The lecture, held on the Emory Campus on October 22, examined the preservation of endangered languages and cultures from the psychological perspective. Speakers considered regional influences and historical interpretation of the endangerment and extinction of language and culture. Some topics addressed were the proven methods for preservation of an endangered language and the variability of constructs between cultures. Margaret Murphy lectured to a small group, and also handed out information packets on the preservation of endangered language.
