AIA PARTICIPATES IN CONFERENCE ON THE GREEK ECONOMY

Peter Herdrich, CEO of the AIA, was a featured speaker at the 23rd annual conference “The Greek Economy: State Reform—The Cornerstone for Investment and Development”, sponsored by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce held on December 3 and 4, 2012 in Athens.

The conference focused on strategies to help attract investment and promote development in Greece. Comments on “The U.S. Perspective” were made by Daniel Bennett Smith, Ambassador of the United States of America to Greece and the Prime Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras, delivered keynote remarks.

Speaking on “The Strategic Plan for Tourism Development in Greece,” and joined on the panel by Olga Kefalogianni, the Greek Minister of Tourism, the AIA’s Peter Herdrich said, “Travel to Greece means visiting archaeological sites. So, we want to do what we can to promote responsible archaeological tourism, which teaches so many about Greece’s past, encourages respect and preservation of sites and benefits the Greek people at a time when they can use a helping hand.”
