Tennessee steps up it’s preparations for International Archaeology Day with the addition of 5 Collaborating Organizations in the state. Tennessee Valley Archaeology Research, the Oakville Indian Mounds Museum, Huntsville City Schools Earthscope, the Alabama National Guard, and Redstone Aresnal will all be working with the AIA North Alabama Society to present an archaeology fair featuring flint knapping demonstrations, atlatl instruction, Native American games, and an artifact donation table for the return of artifacts which have been collected from public lands.
The Department of Anthropology atĀ theĀ Indiana University of Pennsylvania has also signed on as a Collaborating Organization and will be hosting an open house of the IUP archaeology labs where visitors can view demonstrations of 3-D site modeling and geophysical equipment as well as artifact displays and poster exhibits about recent archaeological projects.
