Amphitheatre at Ephesus, Jonia, Türkiye

Category: Archaeological Landscapes

The photo shows the avenue leading out of the Great Amphitheatre at Ephesus. Archaeological work is currently underway in the vicinity. Excavations and restorations at the site have been continuous since 1954, primarily led by the Austrian Archaeological Institute and the Ephesus Museum. These efforts have led to the discovery and restoration of many important structures, including this avenue. The current focus of the excavations includes not only the preservation of existing structures, but also the exploration of new areas to gain a deeper understanding of life in ancient Ephesus.
