As you may have heard, the 2018 federal budget proposes to eliminate funding for several agencies, including the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA):
For the importance of the funding provided by these agencies to archaeology, visit https://www.archaeological.org/news/aianews/24497
The full-scale shutdown of the NEH and NEA will have an immediate and negative impact on archaeological research and field work.
More information about the proposed budget from the National Humanities Alliance (NHA) is available here: http://www.nhalliance.org/trump_administration_budget_request_released.
To take action by contacting your congressional representative, scheduling a meeting, or writing an op-ed piece for your local newspaper about the importance of archaeology, visit: http://www.nhalliance.org/take_action.
Sincerely,
Jodi Magness, President
