The AIA is pleased to share the news of our President Dr. Jodi Magness’ election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1780, honoring excellence, and counting among its members leaders from across all fields of human endeavors. As outlined in their charter, Members of the Academy come together, “to cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honor, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people.” Dr. Magness’ election puts her in the company of a long line of distinguished members of the Academy including, to name just a few; John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Margaret Mead, Georgia O’Keeffe, and international members including Mary Leakey. Dr. Magness’ induction and formal ceremony will take place later this year. The AIA wishes her its heartfelt congratulations on this honor.
