Rooms 1-2
During the last week, we finished the excavation of the thick layer of lime plaster with pieces of black, red, white and blue colour within, at the southern side of Room 1 (Fig.1). Several slabs that belong to a paved floor came to light at the southern and north-western side of the room (Fig.2) and also small parts of burnt beams and reeds. We also investigated one more group of conical cups and other vessels at the centre of Room 1. At Room 2, a magnificent paved floor came also to light (Fig.3). Among the finds of the rooms were many conical cups, several decorated sherds, parts of pithos with corded and other characteristic decoration, a piece of rock crystal and animal bones.

The excavation of Corridor 23 (Fig.2) is completed for this year revealing it’s paved floor. A possible south opening is located south of the paved floor. The excavation of Area 31 (Fig.1,2,3) is also completed with the reveal of a big part of the surface of the natural rock. A very interesting find that was discovered is a bronze roman coin depicting the emperor Hadrian (Fig.4) with his name inscribed in greek characters (ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟC) on the one side and an altar with the characters K-K (koinon of Crete) on the other side.

This week the excavation continued at the northeast part of Area 45B. During the excavation, there were revealed large stones that probably fell from the wall (Fig.1). Large quantity of LM pottery was collected, along with some animal bones.
Room 46
The excavation of the Room 46 finished for this season with the removal of two layers of soil (Fig.1).
During the removal of those layers, plaques of the floor appeared, especially at the west and south part of the room. Also, the foundation of the north late Minoan wall (Fig.2) discovered after the research that took place there, while the upper part of it, was dating to a later period (Mycenaean) (Fig.3). The finds of the room are mainly pottery, animal bones and a piece of coal. Noteworthy among the sherds are two bases of cylix and a part of incense burner.

In this week excavation continues in Room 47 A and finished with the revelation of natural rocks which cover the Room. The steadily appearance of natural rock in Room 47A revealed an underground canal in the natural rock. This fact leads us to understand that the complex of Room 47 is based on natural rock and maybe in the oldest period of Zominthos this space was used for ritual activities. (Fig.1,2).
Among the finds collected this week are a variety and quantity of pottery with medium and small size vases and an important polyhedral piece of quartz.

This season’s work in Room 48 was concluded this week (Fig. 1). In many parts of the excavated area outcrops of bedrock were revealed (Fig. 1). In the western part of the room a stone construction came to light by the north wall, possibly a bench (Fig. 2). In this area five conical cups and a piece of rock crystal have been found (Fig. 4). Two more pieces of rock crystal were collected in the central and the eastern section of the excavated area of the room. In the eastern part a shallow recess in the facade of the north wall was revealed, after which the wall continues to the east, although in a very bad state of preservation (Fig. 3).

This week the excavation continued in the whole Area 62. In the West part of the area a wall with direction N to S and part of a paved floor was discovered (Fig.1). A small accumulation of pottery from vessels, like pithoi and lamps was collected.
