Gamble Plantation was one of several antebellum sugar plantations established along the Manatee River in Florida during the mid-19th century, with an enslaved population of nearly 200 individuals. Historical archaeological research conducted by the University of South Florida from 2017-2019 has aimed to better understand this period in Manatee history.
