The AIA has joined with numerous other scholarly organizations in endorsing the American Sociological Association Statement on Student Evaluations of Teaching (September 2019). The statement speaks to the use of student evaluations in measuring the effectiveness of educators in light of current research which, as ASA notes, indicates that student evaluations of teaching can systematically disadvantage faculty from marginalized groups.
