Diversity Student Travel Grants are meant to assist undergraduate or graduate students who qualify under the category of “underrepresented minority” with their travel expenses to attend the AIA Annual Meeting.
For the purposes of this grant, the category “underrepresented minority” may include (but is not limited to) members of historically underrepresented ethnic and racial minority groups in the United States and Canada, for example, African-American/Canadian, Latinx- American/Canadian, Native-American/First Nations, Métis, Inuit, Asian-American/Canadian, Caribbean-American/Canadian, and Pacific-Islander American/Canadian students.
As part of the Archaeological Institute of America’s ongoing commitment to fieldwork and families, reasonable line items for the care of dependent and elderly family members are allowable expenses for AIA grants, fellowships, and scholarships.

Recipients of the Diversity Student Travel Grant will be given a complimentary student membership in the AIA for the year in which the Annual Meeting takes place. All students are encouraged to join the AIA as student members.
