Project Description:
This course provides practical experience in historical archaeology field methods, including but not limited to site survey, excavation, recording, and laboratory procedures. Fieldwork will be complemented by lectures, workshops and a field trip, offering additional instruction on material culture, historic landscapes, and archival sources. Our field school will focus on archaeological study of an important Great Lakes shipyard, occupied between 1827 and 1901.
The project website will be relaunched in mid-March.

Project Size: 1-24 participants
Minimum Length of Stay for Volunteers: 5 weeks for credit. 3 weeks minimum for audit.
Minimum Age: 21
Experience Required: No field experience required. Permission of the instructor and two references are required for enrollment.
