Recognizing the barriers to physical travel facing everyone at this time, Green Global Travel, a travel blog that, according to a statement by its founders from its website, aims to “… focus on spreading the sustainable philosophies of ecotourism and conservation,” recently put together a story titled 30 Ways You Can Travel The World Without Leaving Home. The AIA’s Interactive Digs made this list! We have always felt the dedication and enthusiasm of excavation project directors and participants who have generously shared their insights from the field have made archaeology come to life through the Interactive Digs, and we are glad to see we are certainly not the only ones who feel this way. Not everyone is able to get out into the field and put their trowel into the ground, so the AIA brings the excavation experience to you through our Interactive Digs. Interactive Digs allow you to follow the progress of excavations around the globe. Participating projects post fieldnotes, personal journals, photos, videos—everything you need to feel like you are part of the team. Though COVID-19 has prevented most archaeologists from being in the field, you can still learn about past Interactive Dig seasons on our website.
