Committees & Interest Groups

2025 Committee Assignments

Committees meet throughout the year to discuss the policies of the Institute and current issues in the field of archaeology. Committee terms begin on January 1 of the start year listed and expire on December 31 of the end year listed, unless otherwise noted.

Committee members must maintain an active AIA membership. To join the AIA as a member, click here. To renew your AIA membership, log into the AIA website and follow the instructions from the ‘My Account’ tab (selected from the top of the screen).

Questions regarding Committees should be directed to the Committee’s Staff Liaison.

Interest Groups

Interest Groups bring together AIA members who have a common interest in particular subjects, typically scholarly or regional areas of study. These organizations are more self-sufficient than AIA Committees, as they allow members to self-identify rather than being appointed by the AIA President.

Interest groups often provide a platform for members to collaborate, share resources, and engage in discussions related to their shared interests. They also offer opportunities for networking and professional development within specific areas of focus.
