December 23, 2019
The 2020 Annual Meeting is fast approaching. Registration numbers continue to be strong, but we are still lagging behind with the reservations at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel. We understand that some attendees will opt to stay with local friends or find a less-expensive accommodation, but we rely on hotel reservations to secure the meeting space each year. The block at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC is closed, but there is still availability at the Renaissance which is only one block away. We have also been able to lower the rate at the Renaissance to only $149 per night (plus applicable taxes). The Renaissance has extended the deadline for reservations to December 27th. You can make your reservation online at https://book.passkey.com/go/AIASCS2 or over the phone at 888-236-2427 (ask for the AIA/SCS rate).
Free Hotel Stay Raffle!
We are also announcing plans to raffle off free stays of up to three nights at both the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC and the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel. On January 2nd we will select multiple winners from all reservations made under the room blocks at both hotels. The hotels will adjust the reservations so that up to three of the nights at the hotel are complimentary. You must be booked in either the Marriott Marquis or Renaissance in the AIA/SCS room block to be eligible to win.
Why is it important to book at our official Annual Meeting
Hotels?
The AIA and SCS are proud to have produced the Annual Meeting for our
professional members for the past 120 years. Financially, we are able to do
this by reserving a large block of rooms with a hotel. In exchange, these
hotels offer our attendees the guaranteed lowest group rate at the hotel and
provide us with complimentary meeting space to hold the meeting. But if we are
unable to meet our guaranteed minimum number of registered guests, then the AIA
and SCS will have to pay for the unused rooms as well as room rental for the
meeting space, which can amount to a severe financial penalty. We request your
support by booking within our reserved blocks and helping us continue to
produce this meeting for the next 100 years.
At this time we have closed the block at the Marriott Marquis and encourage anyone who has not yet made their hotel reservations to book at the Renaissance D.C. The overflow hotel is just a one block walk to the Marriott Marquis. We have also been able to work with the hotel to lower the nightly rate to $149 and extend the reservation cutoff to December 27th.
If you have not already registered, you can do so online at https://www.mylibralounge.com/sites/AISC2001S2/AIASCS2020. Preregistering will help speed you through the registration lines at the meeting.
