Sardis Ancient City, located in the Sart Town of Salihli district of Manisa, is a place where firsts in history took place in the field of economy. It was once home to the Lydians, the civilization that invented money. The Temple of Artemis, Acropolis, Roman Bath, Synagogue and Gymnasium unearthed during excavations are beautiful and deeply impress visitors. The photo I took a few months ago in the world's 3rd largest synagogue represents the village women who were doing the floor restoration and the masters who were training them. When I later re-examined this photo, which was a documentary for me, I realized how ignorant I was when I saw almost the same mosaic figures on the floor on a female worker's headscarf. Perhaps a fondness for detail stemming from being an architect may have guided me.
