Brandeis University hosted the Dead Sea Scrolls Conference on October 6th in conjunction with International Archaeology Day. Their event was centered around the “Dead Sea Scrolls: Life in Ancient Times” exhibition hosted by the Museum of Science, with Brandeis University as an educational partner. About 70 people attended the interdisciplinary symposium on the Dead Sea Scrolls, archaeology, ancient Israel, and encircling politics. Lectures and presentations were given by graduate students from throughout the Northeast, taking advantage of a full range of academic fields: Near Eastern studies, classical studies, anthropology, history, fine arts, and more. Brandeis contributed a special exhibit with its own collection of first century artifacts. Events during the symposium took place at the Museum of Science, Brandeis, and within the Greater Boston area.
