George Lilis was born and grew up in Heraklion, Crete. He graduated from the University of Crete in March 2013 and currently continues his postgraduate studies in “Ancient Mediterranean World: History and Archaeology”, in the direction of Prehistoric archaeology, with emphasis on the study of the societies in Prehistoric Aegean and their relations to Mediterranean civilizations. He has taken part in several excavations, including ancient Eleutherna III (director N. Stampolidis), Gavdos (K. Kopaka), Mytilene – Lisvori (N. Galanidou). He has also worked as an archaeologist under fixed term contracts for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism at Crete (Heraklion) and Florina (Amyntaio).
