Persefoni Xylouri was born in Heraklion, Crete. She graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Crete and she currently continues her studies as a postgraduate student of Byzantine Archaeology and History of Byzantine Art. She has participated in the University of Crete excavations at Eleftherna II, under the direction of professor Thanasis Kalpaxis. She has also worked as an archaeologist under fixed term contracts for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism at Crete (Heraklion).
