More than 100 years after it was founded in honor of the AIA’s first President, Charles Eliot Norton, the Norton Lectureship continues to bring distinguished scholars to audiences throughout the country. This season’s Norton lecturer is Dr. Nancy Wilkie, the William H. Laird Professor of Classics at Carleton College in Minnesota, and past president of the AIA. Dr. Wilkie will present the challenges facing archaeologists in remote areas of the world, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Grevena in Greece. Dr. Wilkie began her career studying classical and Greek prehistory, but soon expanded her interests to include archaeology in southern Asia and the cultural property issues that face today’s scholars. Don’t miss the chance to hear Dr. Wilkie share her experiences studying and visiting these fascinating regions and topics.
