This presentation will reflect on efforts to preserve and protect Afghanistan’s cultural heritage. Utilzing the tools of diplomacy through the US Department of State and the practical steps involved in restoration of neglected and destroyed heritage, Dr. Laura Tedesco will discuss a little-known aspect of United States’ engagement in Afghanistan from 2001-2021, with insights on what is occurring now to Afghanistan’s cultural patrimony with the Taliban’s renewed authority.
