This free, family-friendly program offers the public a unique chance to delve into the field of archaeology and connect with experts through a day of experiential learning. “Can You Dig It?” will be held at the museum from noon to 4 pm.

Attendees will dig deep into the past through educational activities, crafts, and displays led by University of Tennessee, Knoxville researchers, professors, and graduate students. The event will feature a wide range of engaging options, including cave art painting, hunter-gatherer games, and the chance to craft pottery, perfumes, and much more.

Traditionally observed in mid-October, International Archaeology Day raises awareness about the study of archaeology through a multitude of events and programs. In celebration of the day, the McClung Museum has partnered with professional archaeologists and units across the UT campus to bring the celebration of International Archaeology Day to the Knoxville community.
