The ICAS4 continues the tradition of previous international salt congresses in Romania, Los Cabos (Mexico), and Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country, Spain), bringing researchers together to present their research and discuss people’s use of salt. The thematic focus on salt provides a platform to compare and contrast the ancient, historic, and modern production and distribution of salt, as well as its use in ritual, art, politics, and other areas.
