Land of a Thousand Cairns

October 4, 2018 @ 7:00 pm EDT

Acton Memorial Library
486 Main St.
Acton, MA 1720 United States

Mother-son research team Mary and James Gage present a case study of three farms with ceremonial stone landscapes owned by three generations of one family in Hopkinton, Rhode Island, an area with one of the densest concentrations of cairns in the Northeast. Their in-depth research reveals how ceremonies and cairns fit into the purposes and objectives of the farms from pre-settlement days through the 1800s. Free.
