Project Description:

Activity for the understanding of archaeological heritage.
This activity consists of th cleaning, adjustment, and conservation of the archaeological site of the ancient Hellenistic city of Gela (4th century BC) through various archaeological cleaning works. The project focuses on the space surrounded by the remarkable Timoleonian Wall, one of the most outstanding examples of Hellenistic defensive architecture in raw adobe. This exceptional structure has been preserved thanks to a massive sand dune that, for over 2,000 years, has made its conservation possible.

The period for these works will be from May 4th to June 6th:
– Session I: May 4th – May 25th
– Session II: May 25th – June 15th
– Session III: June 15th – July 6th

Enrollment Fee: 1500€
Includes accommodation (B&B), meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), accident insurance, travels + visits to the main archaeological sites on the island during the weekends.
