Project Description:
The archaeological excavation campaign of Ancient Salona is adapted for students, adventurists, archaeology amateurs, volunteers and others willing to learn more about the archaeology of this region and who wish to experience the thrill of discovery. Research and restoration program shall be performed by an expert team of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb – Department of Archaeology and the Archaeological Museum of Split, while the itinerary program elements of transfers, excursions, guides and accommodation are organized by Ventula Travel – Destination Management Company. This program offers a variety of benefits for all its participants. The intention of this project is the sustainable development of the local community, primarily in form of education of students through archaeological fieldwork practice, but in other forms as well.
Activities include archaeological excavations, restoration, documentation, professional lectures, organized tours, meeting local people, exploration of the well-known sites, but also hidden, off-the-beaten-path curiosities.
*In the case of rain, the project envisions indoor activities such as finds processing, documentation, restoration and workshops.

Room and Board Arrangements:
In Salona Palace 4* hotel - located just above the excavation site in a picturesque historic town of Solin, between the two UNESCO - enlisted cities – Trogir and Split. It offers a delightful refuge from the crowds and excellent connections to all attractions. This location is ideal for a more relaxing, more remote stay, especially during the summer season. Buffet breakfasts and dinners will be served daily at the hotel restaurant. The excavation site is situated within walking distance. Accommodation is in hotel rooms with AC for max. 2 persons on an ALL-INCLUSIVE basis. Free Wi-Fi.
