For International Archaeology Day 2016, the Museum of Ontario Archaeology (MOA) worked in close conjunction with the City of London, Archaeological Services Inc. (ASI), and the London Ontario Archaeology Society (OAS) to engage and teach the community about local archaeology through tours, workshops, and information booths. The featured event was a talk about the revision of the Archaeological Master Plan Study of London, discussing how sites are found, when excavation is completed, and strategies for preservation of archaeological sites for generations to come. Free guided tours through the Lawson Archaeological Site and Medway forest were offered, with onsite flint knapping demonstrations, artifact identification, and a kid’s activity zone to engage participants in hands on immersive learning.
