In celebration of National Archaeology Day, the Mead Art Museum hosted a trifecta of archaeological themed events. Kicking off the action on October 4, the museum hosted Evening at the Mead. A lively evening of art and music was offered by the Mead student docents with the participation of Amherst’s Madrigal Singers. In celebration of National Archaeology Day, works from antiquity with archaeological provenance were included. On October 18 was a lecture titled, Exposing the Mead. Mead student docents led discussions of 19th-century travel photographs of archaeological sites in Egypt and Turkey from the Mead’s collection. The final festivities were held on October 13. In an event titled, Pioneer Valley Community Day Celebration, the Mead brought in over 200 visitors. The Mead Art Museum presented a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities for visitors of all ages.
