National Archaeology Day came early to the residents of Michigan. On October 6, State Archaeologist Dr. Dean Anderson hosted Michigan Archaeology Day at the Michigan Historical Center. Over 650 people attended the one-day celebration where they were able to participate in a variety of events. The archaeology fair included fun hands-on activities, as well as experimental archaeology demonstrations of flintknapping and atlatl throwing. There were also educational lectures, student presentations, and special museum tours and exhibits available for visitors.
