A renowned leader in uncovering the origins of the world’s earliest civilizations, the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago has a long and fascinating history that stretches back to the last years of the nineteenth century. For International Archaeology Day, the Oriental Institute hosted a film screening “Breaking Ground: the Story of the Oriental Institute” for eight attendees. This film was produced by Chicago Public Television and includes images and footage from historic excavations as well as Oriental Institute projects currently underway in Turkey and Egypt.
