Amid the ruins of a Soviet building looking out into the goat and yak pins of a camp in Khanuy Valley. The Soviet occupation of Mongolia was oppressive, forcing many traditional pastoralists to conform to soviet society and forcing people to cease their nomad lifeways. After the Soviets were pushed out many returned back to their traditional pastoral lifeways that they have followed for millennia.
