The Kenya Society of Geophysical Professionals held an IAD celebration on October 21 as a testament to the importance of unearthing and preserving our shared human heritage. Participants learned about such techniques as ground-penetrating radar, magnetometry, and resistivity surveys which are employed to create intricate maps of the subterranean landscape, revealing long-forgotten secrets. This educational experience included a poster session and conversations about the preservation of cultural heritage and the ways it can foster understanding between cultures and peoples. It focused on the role of technology in revolutionizing archaeology, particularly geophysical technologies, in making it possible to explore and map sites that have been long hidden.
Happy International Day of Archaeology, and may we continue to explore and celebrate the treasures of our past, building a brighter future for all.
